Help and FAQs: My Calendar and the I Plan Section

Why is there a Calendar section and what can I do with it?

I’m in TV has a very sophisticated calendaring application which allows its members to share their dates and events with others on the network.

This is turn lets members tell others when they will be free to take an assignment.
Hence, you could take a look at a member’s calendar to find out when they are going to be busy and when they will be free.

I’m in TV provides two views – one a complete month view while the other is a detailed daily view.

What is a pencil request?

A pencil request is a request made by a potential employer to a member stating that the employer wishes to book the member (to whom the pencil request is made) for a particular set of days for a particular project.

On receiving a pencil request, the member, if interested – can initiate a discussion with the employer using the internal site messaging service and then choose to accept or decline the request once he or she decides to take up the project.

How do I send someone a pencil request?

To send someone a pencil request:

  1. Make sure you are logged onto the I’m in TV website.
  2. Go to the profile of the person whom you want to make a pencil request to.

  3. Go the calendar page of the person by clicking on the Calendar link on the top of the page.

What happens when somebody sends me a pencil request?

When someone sends you a pencil request, the following things happen:

  1. A “pencil request” event is created in your I Plan section. (From here, you will be able to see more details about the project and accept, decline or modify it)
  2. A message is sent to your inbox notifying you of a new pencil request.

  3. If you have set up any text notifications on receiving a new pencil request, you will receive a text message notifying you of the same.

How can I accept / decline a pencil request?

All pencil requests on I’m in TV are treated as hidden events.

  1. To accept a pencil request, you need to go to your I Plan page.
To go to your I Plan page, make sure you are logged in. Then click on the "My Profile" tab on the top left corner of the screen. In the page that opens up, click on the "I Plan" link on the left hand side menu.

  2. Once at the I Plan page, make sure the event that you want to edit is displayed in the list of events. If not, you can adjust the date range below to display the event between these dates.

You can modify anything you would like and click on the Update option.

  5. The pencil request will then show up as an event on your calendar.

  6. However, please note that you will have to inform the member who requested the pencil request yourself (through the internal site messaging system) that you have accepted the request.

    This
    does not happen automatically.

Why are the pencil icons missing on some of the days?

Missing pencil icons on some of the calendar days indicate that the member is busy during these days and will not be able to accept any projects on these days.

A visible pencil request indicates the availability of the member to take up projects on those days.

How can I see more details about someone's event?

You can see more details about a particular event by clicking on that event or on the day on which the event is taking place (excluding the pencil icon)

On doing this, you will be taken to a different page which will give you more information about the events for that day.

What privacy features are in place for the calendar functionality?

The events that you mark as private – are shown with the “locked” icon in your I Plan list of events.

Events marked as public are displayed with a “star” icon while the pencil requests are shown with a pencil icon.

Pencil request events – will never be displayed on the calendar to anyone (including you). The only place a pencil request will be displayed is in the list on the I Plan page. Once the pencil request is accepted (and turned into an event), it will show up in your calendar.Public events (along with the details) are shown to anyone visiting your profile.

Private events are shown ONLY to you. Hence the calendar you see will be different to a visitor (private events hidden) as compared to the view that you will be seeing.

What happens when I mark a particular event as busy?

When you mark a particular event as busy, the pencil icon from your calendar will be hidden for the duration of the event. This symbolizes that you are busy and will not available for other projects.

The busy status of an event can be toggled anytime by editing and updating the particular event.

How and when are reminders sent?

Reminders are sent by default 24 hours before the event is to commence.
If you have enabled the option to receive reminders via text messages, we will send you the reminder via a text message provided your quota of messages for the week is not over.

If the quota of your text messages for the week is over, or you have chosen not to receive text message reminders, we will send you a reminder via email to your primary email address.

Events which commence within 24 hours of creating an entry for them on the website will NOT receive any reminders.
